“I started out 30 years ago, with nothing but the dream of being a professional singer and a bad haircut. It’s been a long and interesting journey to get to where I am now. From being night porter in a hotel and learning to sing and then writing songs with wolfsbane and performing live for the first time, to getting my first recording contract. I got to the very top of my profession singing with Iron Maiden and playing huge venues around the world and writing songs and recording with what I think is the greatest heavy metal band in history and now owning my own small label and producing my own albums.”
“To celebrate this 30th anniversary I’ve put together “Soundtracks of my life”, an album of 30 songs that I have been involved with that have been very important to me and mark some of the highs and lows and challenges I've had over these 30 years”
“In 2014 the “Soundtracks of my life” world tour starts in South America followed by the European leg of the tour. I'm hoping to visit as many places as I possibly can to make this the Tour of my life.”
“ I will where ever possible sign autographs for my fans on this tour as a way of saying thank you for all the wonderful support all my fans have given me since I started 30 years ago”
Blaze Bayley was born as Bayley Alexander Cooke on 29th May 1963 in Birmingham, England. He is an English singer and songwriter.
He started his professional music career as lead vocalist of WOLFSBANE in 1984. They released 4 studio albums and one live album together.
When Bruce Dickinson left IRON MAIDEN in 1993, Blaze was chosen from over 1000 singers as his replacement. Wolfsbane ended when Blaze left the band. Blaze Bayley recorded two full albums with IRON MAIDEN, the Xfactor in 1995, and Virtual XI in 1998. He also features on Maidens “Best of the Beast” album where he was the co-writer of a new song named Virus, and on “The visions of the Beast” DVD.
In February 1999, when IRON MAIDEN announced that vocalist Bruce Dickinson was returning to the band, Blaze started his solo career.
He formed his own band, BLAZE, in March 1999. In May 2000 the debut album "Silicon Messiah" was released, followed up by "Tenth Dimension" in 2003 and "Blood And Belief" in 2005. In 2003 the band also recorded the live CD "As Live As It Gets".
After some changes in the lineup and management, Blaze opted to rename his band under his full name, BLAZE BAYLEY and make a new start. In February 2007, the Blaze Bayley Band started by recording the live DVD and album "Alive in Poland". In July 2008, the Blaze Bayley Band released their debut studio album, "The Man Who Would Not Die". The band recorded another CD/DVD live at Z7, "The Night That Will Not Die", which was released in March 2009. The second studio album "Promise and Terror" was released in February 2010.
Wolfsbane reformed with the full original line up to be special guests of the Wildhearts on a short tour of the UK. The next year they were special guests of the Quireboys on their UK tour. Wolfsbane released an EP, “Did it for the money” in 2010. In 2011 Wolfsbane found time to write, record and release a new studio album “Wolfsbane save the world”. The band get together when they can fit it in with their busy individual schedules and touring commitments. They some times appear at festivals and do short tours.
In March 2011 Blaze Bayley decided to continue his musical career as a solo artist. working together with musicians he discovered, he produced a new album "The King Of Metal" in March 2012, it was Produced by Blaze Bayley, written with Thomas Zwijsen and recorded by Blaze Bayley, Thomas Zwijsen, Claudio Tirincanti, Andrea Neri and Lehmann. It proved to be a big hit with his fans. Blaze: “I am able to get to a lot of small and out of the way places with my acoustic shows that I just can’t go with my full metal show. My fans seem to like the intimate and personal vibe of my acoustic shows and so do I.”
Between his own writing, recording, producing and touring, Blaze finds time to record guest vocals for different bands around the world and has performed several shows worldwide with Iron Maiden legend Paul Di’Anno. These shows brought him for the first time to Australia in 2012.
